In Kelsey E. Gross's debut picture book, WINTER: A SOLSTICE STORY, Owl calls out to his woodland friends on a dark solstice night: "Whoo can help me shine the light, share gifts of hope on this long night?" One by one, animals share hopes and good wishes for all as they decorate a solstice tree. When an unexpected visitor interrupts their celebration, Owl and friends push past their fears to find that all may offer a gift of hope and light.
In SUMMER: A SOLSTICE STORY, Owl asks his woodland friends, "Whoo will help send off our young?" One by one, animal friends come forward to offer gifts of love from the woodlands to honor the shining spirits of new life on the longest day of the year.
FALL: A SEASONS STORY again features Owl and myriad woodland creatures, gathering to help a monarch butterfly as she rests during her long migration. The picture book subtly weaves together environmental concerns with fall rituals and friendship themes.
